Tour Reviews
EXCELLENTBased on 185 reviews VerifiedPosted on Abby MTrip of a lifetime I found Rob on instagram after several tour companies said they couldn't help me with a custom tour route. It was the busy season when I first contacted Rob and he enthusiastically got back to me saying he would be able to take us wherever! We booked him for 5 days with 4 people total. He was able to pick us up from the airport and we were off for our first day. He put together a great itinerary that was a mix of the incredibly long list I sent him and some places I had never heard of. He was very thoughtful in his planning and letting us know what was a tourist trap and what was worth spending money and time on so that we could really maximize our trip. He truly drove us all over Scotland and was always in a good mood! We often started very early and ended very late getting nearly 20k steps each day and he never complained about anything! He showed us some incredible locations and even at the tourist traps he was able to take us away from the crowds to an even better photo op! I cannot express enough about how incredible Rob made our trip. Every time we saw one of the big tour busses I was SO grateful we found Rob and went with him instead, I cannot imagine ever going on a large tour bus again after the experience Rob gave us. We had so many inside jokes and incredible pictures and memories by the end of our tour with Rob and we were so sad to have to finish our trip without him!! His knowledge of not only the land, roads (often times backroads due to accidents and sheep blockades), land marks, and history was incredible. He is a fantastic story teller and a fantastic driver!! We always felt safe and he made sure we had what we needed for each day and itinerary! I am a very type A, planner, need to know every detail or I have a very stressful time but Rob made this trip seamless and we planned a great itinerary together. Even when we needed to change a few things once in Scotland it still seemed like everything was planned to begin with! Rob, thank you so much for the incredible and unforgettable experience!! I cannot wait to come back!VerifiedPosted on Madison HKieran the tour guide and Harry Potter!! Perfect!! Kieran was an excellent tour guide. He was full of information and a lot of fun too. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t bother walking around, trying to discover things on your own. It’s so much better to do this tour.VerifiedPosted on Genene MOnce in a lifetime This was the best time of my life. Rob was amazing. My daughter found him on Instagram and it's the best find ever. He took us to so many fun places. We did so many fun things. We were able to see and do way more than those big bus tours. Rob knows his way around Scotland like no other.I can't recommend Rob enough. If you're lucky enough to get him to be your tour guide, you're lucky enough ❤️VerifiedPosted on Paula PA+ tour guide We had a great time with Rob as our guide. Highly recommended- we'd hire him again if we had the chance. Funny, informative, and quite the punster- lots of laughter.VerifiedPosted on Jeffrey GIf you want to see the Scottish Highlands and have a great time, choose Rob Carr Experiences We did a three-day tour of the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye. Words can't describe how amazing it was! Rob was the best host/guide anyone could ever ask for. He was knowledgeable and kept the conversation flowing with stories and anecdotes. The planning process was easy and Rob was very accommodating and also offered great suggestions. We had a pretty packed itinerary and Rob still found time to take spontaneous detours and show us some amazing sights (dinosaur footprints). If you want to see the Scottish Highlands and have an enjoyable time, book with Rob.Rob started the trip as our guide, and ended our trip as a friend.VerifiedPosted on Melissa MHarry Potter and Highland Tour I recently did a Harry Potter, Highland and Isle of Skye tour with Rob and had a great time! We covered a lot of ground from Harry Potter filming sights, to checking out castles and several hikes. Rob is very knowledgeable in the history of Scotland and in Harry Potter. I liked how friendly, enthusiastic and funny he is. His dad jokes were great! His tour was also very engaging and inclusive. My friend and I stayed a couple of extra days in Edinburgh after the tour ended, Rob gave great recommendations on what to do and where to go eat on those last days. You can tell Rob is very passionate about what he does. I am really glad my coworker recommended Rob to me. Overall I would recommend Rob to anyone planning a trip to Scotland.VerifiedPosted on Catherine BSuper Fun Time, Beautiful Views, & Yummy Food! He took us to so many places I had never even heard of when doing research for our trip, and I loved that we were able to be the only group everywhere he took us. I was impressed with how much history he knew off the top of his head. Rob was so cool and the whole day truly just felt like hanging out with a friend. 6-Day Isle of Skye & Mull Tour
An Introduction to Scotland’s Epic Castles
After picking up in Edinburgh. Our first stop is Doune Castle, a medieval stronghold with a rich history and a touch of Hollywood fame, known for appearances in Outlander, Game of Thrones, and Monty Python.
From there, we stretch our legs on the Creag An Tuirc Walk, a short but rewarding hike that rewards us with sweeping views over Balquhidder Glen — once the heartland of Clan MacLaren and forever tied to tales of Highland clans and rebellion.
Next, we journey to the picturesque village of Killin to admire the Falls of Dochart, a dramatic cascade that runs right through the heart of the village. Just nearby lies Finlarig Castle, a ruined yet atmospheric site with stories of power and bloodshed woven into its stones.
Our castle trail continues west to Kilchurn Castle, one of the most photographed ruins in Scotland, standing proudly on the banks of Loch Awe. Close by, we’ll also explore the remarkable St Conan’s Kirk, a curious church built with an eclectic mix of styles and materials, often described as one of Scotland’s most unusual architectural treasures.
We finish our day in the coastal town of Oban, a bustling harbour known as the “Gateway to the Isles.” Here, we’ll board the ferry and make the short crossing to the island of Mull, where our Highland adventure continues.

Doune Castle
Isle of Mull & Tobermory
Our morning begins with a peaceful visit to Calgary Bay, one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, where white sands and turquoise waters set the perfect scene before breakfast. From here, we continue to the Isle of Mull Cheese Farm, a family-run gem where you can sample handmade cheeses and learn about the craft that’s kept this tradition alive.
For those interested in Scotland’s national drink, there’s the chance to explore the Tobermory Distillery, home to one of the oldest working whisky distilleries in the country, before we make our way to the dramatic Eas Fors Waterfall, cascading down the cliffs into the sea.
Boat trip to Isle of Staffa
The highlight of the day is a half-day boat trip to the Isle of Staffa, a world-famous island formed by striking basalt columns and home to puffins from April to August. Here, we’ll enjoy a packed lunch (don’t forget warm clothes — the sea breeze can be brisk!) before returning to Mull.
As evening falls, the adventure winds down with a choice of local favourites — the lively atmosphere of MacGochans or the colourful Mishnish Bar, both perfect spots to share stories from the day and soak up island hospitality.

Isle of Staffa
Wildlife & Island Wonders of Mull
This morning is dedicated to the wild side of Mull. We begin with wildlife watching, keeping an eye out for playful otters along the shores, as well as red deer and fallow deer roaming the island’s rugged hills. Our key locations include Loch na Keal, Knock Loch Scridain, and Lochbuie, each offering a different chance to spot Scotland’s most iconic animals in their natural habitat.
At Carsaig, we’ll scan the waters for seals basking on the rocks, before continuing inland to the striking Crater Loch, a hidden gem formed in an ancient volcanic crater, surrounded by dramatic scenery. From there, we make our way to the Tobermory Lighthouse, perched at the entrance to the harbour, offering both sweeping views and a sense of the island’s maritime history.
Depending on conditions and tides, we’ll round off the day with something truly special: a low-tide walk out to MacKinnon’s Cave or the Isle of Erraid, both remarkable coastal experiences. Alternatively, there’s the option to take a trip to Iona, the sacred island known for its abbey, beaches, and centuries of spiritual history.

Isle of Erraid
From Mull to Skye via Ardnamurchan
We start the day by boarding the first ferry to Kilchoan, crossing from Mull to the remote Ardnamurchan Peninsula, one of the wildest and least explored corners of Scotland.
Our first stop is the breathtaking Sanna Bay, a stretch of golden sands framed by turquoise waters and volcanic hills — the perfect place to feel the raw beauty of the Highlands. From there, we set off on a rewarding hike to Ben Hiant, the highest peak on Ardnamurchan, offering panoramic views across the peninsula and out to the Small Isles.
Continuing our journey, we pause at the romantic ruins of Castle Tioram, dramatically situated on a tidal island and steeped in clan history.
The road then winds us north to Mallaig, where we catch the ferry across the Sound of Sleat to the Isle of Skye. Arriving at Armadale, we journey onwards to the colourful harbour town of Portree, our base on Skye.
Before the day closes, we visit the enchanting Rha Falls, a hidden waterfall tucked into the lush landscapes near Uig — a perfect final touch to a day of castles, coasts, and crossings.

Portree, Isle of Skye
Hiking the Landscapes of Skye
Today is all about walking among Skye’s most iconic landscapes. We begin with a choice of two hikes to suit the group’s pace and interest. Options include the legendary Old Man of Storr, with its towering rock pinnacles and sweeping views over the Sound of Raasay; the quieter but no less dramatic Ben Tianavaig, a coastal climb that rewards us with vistas over Portree Bay and beyond; or the epic Quiraing Circular, a rugged loop through strange rock formations, landslips, and otherworldly scenery that feels like stepping onto another planet.
Along the way, we pause at Kilt Rock, where basalt cliffs rise like pleats of tartan and a waterfall plunges directly into the sea. For those keen on ancient history, there’s also the chance to see real dinosaur footprints imprinted in the shoreline rock — a reminder of Skye’s prehistoric past.
To round off the day, we visit the seat of Clan MacLeod at Dunvegan Castle, Scotland’s oldest continuously inhabited castle, with its mix of history, legends, and stunning gardens set on the shores of Loch Dunvegan.

Quiraing
From Skye to Edinburgh
Our last day begins at the historic Sligachan Bridge, framed by the jagged Black Cuillin mountains — a place long tied to myths of eternal youth in its river waters. From here, we stop at Manuela’s Wee Bakery, a quirky hidden gem on Skye where sweet treats and wood-fired breads are crafted with charm and care.
Leaving the island behind, we pause at the famous Eilean Donan Lookout, where Scotland’s most photographed castle sits at the meeting of three sea lochs. Continuing east, we visit the serene Cille Choirril Church, a peaceful Highland site with centuries of history resting in its graveyard.
For a taste of Scotland’s finest, we call in at the Dalwhinnie Distillery, the highest distillery in the country, offering smooth Highland malts shaped by mountain air. Not far along the road, the House of Bruar awaits — the perfect spot to sample what many claim to be the best Scotch egg in Scotland.
Our journey winds down through Perthshire with a walk at the Hermitage of Dunkeld, where towering Douglas firs line the River Braan, and finally, a pause beneath the ancient Birnam Oak, a tree forever tied to Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
By evening, we return to Edinburgh, closing our adventure where it began — with memories of castles, mountains, islands, and the very best of Scotland’s landscapes and legends
